A library for everyone. Łódź, Gdynia, Kraków, Bergen – different cities, a common idea. Increasing access to culture – model Polish and Norwegian solution.

The Municipal Library of Lodz

The Municipal Library of Lodz is the largest cultural institution in Lodz and the largest library network in Poland. It pursues many international projects while representing Polish libraries abroad, participates in numerous conferences and projects internationally.

The team of the Municipal Library of Lodz is constantly working on modernising services and tailoring the library offer to the needs of contemporary recipients. Over 60 branches organise cultural and educational events such as meetings with authors, literary events, exhibitions, concerts, workshops and courses.

In Lodz, owing to the Library, the first self-service book lending facility in Poland was opened, available to each and every reader 24/7.

The Municipal Library of Lodz also cares for the staff working in its branches. It organises courses and training session that enhance the competencies of employees. Workshops open up the opportunity to bring about an interesting offer, which is also a promotion for the institution. During one of the recent training sessions, employees created, among other things, an urban game available on smartphones for their readers.
