The Regional Public Library in Cracow
In the the Regional Public Library in Cracow, among almost half a million collections available in 16 thematic lending rooms and reading rooms, not only can Readers find books and magazines, but also movies and music on analogue discs, CDs or DVDs, “spoken” and Braille-written books, documents on social life, sheet music, maps, board and computer games, as well as access to electronic databases, which can be used both on-site and on-line. You can also borrow e-book readers and access electronic publications.
The Library delivers extensive activities for the benefit of multiculturalism, including:
- classes/conversations, encounters with the culture of other countries delivered by foreigners as part of the project “ESC: Volunteering Solidarity – built to last – Meet me in the library 2020-2021”, which is a continuation of “EVS: Together = Further – Meet me in the library 2019-2020”,
- cooperation with associations: Romania, Ukraine
- participation in the Mutual Understanding, Respect and Learning Project – MURAL expanding the competencies of the Library’s staff with regard to multiculturalism.
The fulfilment of your passions at the Library is possible through professional software for creating, editing, processing music and graphics, as well as through graphic tablets, and digital piano. Our users can benefit from 600 work stations and 88 computer work stations.
The Library does not only involve books. We display over 100 exhibitions annually, every day within the library spaces about 10 various workshops, meetings and training courses on a very wide range of topics are held. We invite organisations, associations and local communities to cooperate with us, because the Library is also a place of social debates, allowing the implementation of civic projects and ideas.
