A library for everyone. Łódź, Gdynia, Kraków, Bergen – different cities, a common idea. Increasing access to culture – model Polish and Norwegian solution.

Weekend full of fantastic events is over!

On Friday afternoon the Library of Gdańsk is filled with fans of Jakub Ćwiek’s prose. The writer made use of his skills as a perfect orator (he is a stand-upper as a matter of fact) and charmed us with himself in an interview about his own works, including about his latest book “Panny czarowne”.

On Saturday afternoon the Library in Łagiewnicka Street was visited by crowds that wanted to say goodbye to the library on the last weekend of the summer. Amongst the picnic participants were readers of the library, as well as those who came here for the first time. – I have not known this library so far but found out about the picnic and nice initiatives, organised by the Municipal Library in Łódź and I came with a granddaughter – said Ms Teresa.  Huge bubbles blown up by children were hovering over people at the picnic. A trampoline was hot stuff amongst the youngest. Youths and adults fulfilled themselves creatively by painting linen bags and making jewellery of colourful strings. One could hear shouts of rivalry among mega jenga and draughts players.

The picnic was closed with the meeting with Marta Reich, an author of a classical novel with elements of suspense “Każde twoje słowo” and two crime books “Morderstwo i cała reszta” and “Sztuki i sztuczki”. The writer told us about combining passion with work, life spread between Warsaw and London, as well as about writing with joy.
